Ione Marie (Bonebrake) Shrope, 92, of Marion, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Graveside services will be held at
10 a.m. Friday, May 25, at Dunkard Cemetery, Midway. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Ione was born March 23, 1926, in Center Point, Iowa, the daughter of Alva and Frankie (Neuman) Bonebrake. She graduated from Garrison High School and on Oct. 24, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo., she was united in marriage to Francis "Nick" Shrope. In Ione's earlier days, she tutored in rural communities. She was a member of the Toddville Free Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Ione was devoted to her church and loved her family and friends, and her dogs, Betsy and Tiffany, and cat, Carmie. She enjoyed traveling and living life to the fullest, never taking anything for granted.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Stephanie (Kyle) Bonnett-Rawson of Troy Mills; great-granddaughters, Amber (Nick) Gudenkauf of Masonville and Haley Rawson (Wes Johnson) of Coggon; great-grandson, Blake Rawson (Taylor McDonald) of Troy Mills; great-great-grandchildren, Macie Rawson and Aubry Gudenkauf; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ione was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis "Nick" Shrope; son and daughter in infancy; daughter, Sara Bonnett; grandson, Mark Bonnett; brother, Raymond Bonebrake Sr.; and two sisters, Lela Bonebrake and Maxine Watson.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ione's memory.
