JOHN KINNEY

John Kinney, 69, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be Monday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
John was born Nov. 2, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Edward and Violet (Lucht) Kinney, and graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1966. He married the love of his life, Donna, in 1979. John worked for the Cedar Rapids Police Department as a dispatcher for 18 years. He also worked for the Veterans Public Safety Unit and Iowa State Reserve Law Offices Association for several years. John also owned a small business, Advertising by Kinney. He was a member of Iowa Police Protection Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish John's memory are his wife of 37 years, Donna Kinney; Scott (Kelly) Kinney, Mike (Laura) Kinney, Mike (Belinda) Henle and Troy (Cindy) Henle. Grandchildren include Kelsey, Cassidy, James, Don, Jacob, Kyle, Nikki, Shalyn and Taylor; and six great-grandchildren. Something very close to John were his girls (pets).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Head and Neck Society.
