The KFC restaurant at 3917 Center Point Road NE in Cedar Rapids will be hopping Thursday morning as the fast food giant gives away 100 free meals.
Cedar Rapids was chosen as one of about 50 KFC cities nationwide to participate in a social media promotion to launch the restaurant chain's new tag line, “So Good.”
KFC calls it “the first global tagline in the 70-year history of the brand.” It announced plans to give away 100 Big Crunch Box meals (worth $5 each) in at least 50 restaurants.
The company told hungry customers interested in nabbing a free meal to go find a secret password on its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/kyfriedchicken) or Twitter (@kfc_colonel) that they would be required to say when requesting the free meal promotion.
Hint: "KFC is So Good.”
Only the first 100 customers to place an order will receive the free lunch, beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday.
A statement from KFC's advertising agency announcing the promotion proudly trumpeted that “We've tallied the submissions and the vote is in – Cedar Rapids is the only city in Missouri where KFC fans will be eating for free on Thursday!”
(With no Cedar Rapids, Mo., in our national road atlas, we're thinking they mean Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Or maybe it's part of a clever social media promotion.)
