The Gentlemen of the Road Festival kicks off Friday in Waverly and more than 10,000 people have bought tickets for the two-day music festival hosted by British band Mumford and Sons.
Who's playing
Headliner Mumford and Sons will be joined by Kentucky indie-rock favorites My Morning Jacket and Oklahoma psychedelic heroes the Flaming Lips, along with Dawes, Jenny Lewis, The Maccabees, The Very Best, Rubblebucket, Blake Mills, Jeff the Brotherhood and a host of local and regional acts. See a full lineup at gentlemenoftheroad.com.
Tickets
Tickets are still available for the festival and single-day passes have been made available. Tickets are $85 for Friday and $125 for Saturday, including parking, camping and fees. Full-festival tickets are $199 and include admission to all downtown performances. Tickets for the downtown stage only are $5. The main box office will be at the northwest corner of the festival venue, near 20th Street N.W. and Knight Avenue.
LOCATION
There will be two stages, the main festival stage on the Wartburg College campus and a downtown stage. Downtown traffic will be detoured around the 100-300 blocks of E. Bremer Avenue until 2 p.m. Sunday. To assist with the overflow of pedestrian traffic, Fifth Avenue N.W. will be closed to through traffic from 12th Street N.W. to First Street N.W. and 12th Street N.W. from Seventh Avenue N.W. to Wilson Avenue.
A parking lot for the festival is at 2101 20th St. N.W. Camping is near the parking lot and is a short walk to the main stage.
TIMES
Downtown stage doors open at 11 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and the main stage festival gates open at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, the main stage gates open at 12:45 p.m.
OTHER
Free water and cellphone charging stations will be available inside the festival grounds, and food and drink will be available for purchase. Coolers, lawn chairs, umbrellas, outside food and beverages, professional cameras or video and audio recording equipment are among the things not allowed. The festival will happen rain or shine.
