Patterson, Sam D.
Sam D. Patterson, 70, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, in his home. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is assisting the family.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis “Sharon” Patterson; brother, Dr. Alan D. Patterson of Osceola; and sister, Elenor Quinn of Atwater, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jayne Funk, Colleen Oxford, Karen Palmer and Kay Patterson.
Sam Daley Patterson was born May 5, 1939, in Chariton, Iowa, the son of Loren and Elizabeth (Halferty) Patterson. He served one enlistment in the U.S. Air Force. On May 16, 1998, he married Mavis Gilbert in Las Vegas, Nev. He was self-employed, selling industrial cleaning supplies.
