Crozier, Bernice Marie
Bernice Marie Crozier, 86, of Fairfax, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clover Ridge United Methodist Church, Walford, with the Rev. Mike Townsley officiating. Burial will follow services in Anderson Cemetery, Swisher. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church; as well as an hour before services Saturday at the church. Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
Bernice was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of John and Grace Ecklund Pollet. She graduated from Palo High School in 1941. She married August Bob Crozier on Oct. 17, 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. They moved to a farm near Fairfax in 1946 and farmed their entire life there. Bernice loved to attend church, bowl and play cards. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a lifetime member of Clover Ridge United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was also involved with Fairfax Seniors, Walford Church Seniors, the Farm and City Gals and the Family Night.
Bernice is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Darrell) Marak of Swisher; and a son, Dale Crozier of Monona; grandchildren, Lorraine Melsha of Swisher, Brian (Barb) Marak of Swisher, Robert Crozier stationed in Iraq, Stephen Crozier of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Jennifer Crozier of Madison, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Tanner Marak and Trennan Marak of Swisher; a sister, Dorothy Beers of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Richard Pollet of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Mayola Pollet of Solon, and Marcene Pollet of Cedar Rapids; and a brother-in-law, George Meyer of Solon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, August Bob on Aug. 7, 2002; an infant sister, Gladys and a sister, Blance Gorsh; an infant brother, Teddy; and brothers. Walter, Robert, Arthur, Delbert and Charles Pollet.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
