Luzum, Ethel
Ethel Luzum, 91, of Calmar, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 304 South Maryville, Calmar, with the Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. at the church. Arrangements with Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, Calmar.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Klimesh, Cedar Rapids; two sons, Dick (Diane) Luzum, Calmar, and Larry (Kathy) Luzum, Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Dan (Barb) Klimesh, Alan Klimesh, Michelle (Paul Martez) Klimesh, Brian (Jennessa) Luzum, Jackie Luzum, Kelly (Tosh) Luzum and Jodie Luzum; 13 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Kayla, Tanner, Gabe, Piper, Brandi, Zach, Cael, Ellie, Lauren, Maysun, Maykala and Isaiah; one sister, Geneva (Clarence) Kuennen, St. Lucas; one brother, Donald (Catherine) Huinker, Ossian; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Huinker, Calmar, and Bernice Huinker, Fort Atkinson; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Caroline Huinker; her husband, Leonard Luzum on Feb. 28, 2001; a son, Daryl Luzum on Nov. 19, 2005; a son-in-law, James Kllimesh in 2009; four brothers, Cornelius, Robert, Gerald and Virgil Huinker; and two sisters, Margie Huber and Bernice Bucheit.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Winneshiek County Memorial Hospice, 901 Montgomery St., Decorah, IA 52101.
