Duck Hunt: UI addressing incident of wrestler cited for shooting duck

Oct. 7, 2013 1:31 pm
It's not exactly the super duck wrestlers look to hit.
This appears this is one shot that landed University of Iowa wrestler Ethen Lofthouse in trouble.
The Gazette's Lee Hermiston has reported that Lofthouse was cited by Iowa City police Friday for discharging a bow and hunting after the season after Lofthouse admitted to shooting a mallard duck with an arrow in the yard of his residence. Police investigated a complaint by a neighbor, who allegedly witnessed him shoot the duck and take it into a garage.
The UI Athletics responded to the incident.
"Senior Ethen Lofthouse was cited Friday for illegal hunting. Iowa City Police allege Lofthouse shot a duck outside his residence with a bow and arrow," UI said in a news release distribution by the sports information department. "The UI Athletics Department is aware of the situation, and is working with Lofthouse through the process outlined in the UI Athletics Department Student-Athlete Code of Conduct."
It is the second time in a year Hawkeye wrestlers have received illegal hunting citations.
