Anderson, Lenora L.
Lenora L. Anderson, 83, 3521 Amanda Court NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, August 1, 2010, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eden United Church of Christ, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Beverly Thompson-Travis. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Also one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Private family inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughters, Pamela (Mitchell) Harvey of Bucksport, Maine, Beth (Bob) Ehlinger of Cedar Rapids, and Julia Anderson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Sharon, David (Julie) and Daniel Harvey, Katie (Adam) Martin, Kim (Los) Harned and Kris (Tonya) Ehlinger; great-grandchildren, Shyann Harvey, Eric and Amanda Jones, Elise and Trenton Harned and Kayleigh and Makenna Ehlinger; and one sister, Donna Bahndorf of Manchester.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; two infant daughters, Mary Cathleen and Barbara Sue Anderson; and brother-in-law, Norman Bahndorf.
Born Dec. 12, 1926, in Trenton, Mo., Lenora was the daughter of Donald and Helen (Moore) Kennedy. In 1937, she moved to Cedar Rapids and graduated from Wilson High School in 1944. On Sept. 7, 1944, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Anderson in Eden United Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids. He died March 15, 1979. Lenora served lunch at Van Buren School in the 1960s, candled eggs for Francisco Eggs, and worked at Newport Flowers in the 1970s.
Lenora was a longtime faithful member of Eden United Church of Christ and a past member of the women's social group “Kings Daughters.” She loved children and enjoyed baby-sitting for family and friends.
