Virlor Frances Jarvis, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital under the care of UnityPoint Hospice.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Salem United Methodist Church, officiated by Chaplain Deb Black. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. In Virlor's memory, casual dress is preferred.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Jarvis of Cedar Rapids, Kent (Jan) Jarvis of Munds Park, Ariz., and Bill Jarvis of Phoenix; three grandchildren, Nick Jarvis of Phoenix, Molly Jarvis of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jeff (Kim) Jarvis of Auburn, Wash.; and two great-grandchildren, Seth and Connor Jarvis of Auburn, Wash.
Virlor was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry Walts and Robert Walts; and her husband.
Virlor was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Great Bend, Kan., to Harry and Hazel (McKinley) Walts. After graduating from high school, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Billie Jule Jarvis, on April 24, 1942. To this union three children were born. He preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1996.
Virlor was a homemaker who took great joy in being surrounded by her family. She never met a stranger and loved to visit with everyone. She especially enjoyed all the activities at Meadow View Memory Care Facility. Virlor had a smile for everyone she met and will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank the entire staff from Meadow View Memory Care Facility for their love and support, as well as Cindy MacLeod for the tender care given to Virlor.
Memorials in Virlor's name may be made to UnityPoint Hospice (St. Luke's) or Meadow View Memory Care Activity Fund.
