Ron Paul has always been a man of his word
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 29, 2011 11:38 pm
If there were a candidate for president who:
l Always voted according to the Constitution.
l Never flip-flopped on a single issue in 30 years.
l Never voted against the 2nd Amendment.
l Never voted to raise taxes, the debt ceiling or his own congressional salary.
l Refuses to participate in Congress' lucrative pension plan.
l Would abolish the death tax as well as taxes on tips and savings.
l Wants to end the foreign wars and bring our troops home to their families immediately.
l Predicted the U.S. housing market collapse and our economic downturn. ...
Would you vote for that man?
That man is Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas. Of all the candidates, he has stood alone for decades in fighting the growth and overreach of the federal government. He knows that the U.S. cannot continue policing the world with its 900-plus bases and troops in 120 countries. His 10-point plan would pare the first-year budget by $1.2 trillion, not just reduce future growth like other candidates propose. He boldly intends to shrink federal employment by 10 percent, eliminate the IRS, the Federal Reserve and five cabinet-level departments.
Walking the walk, President Paul will take a salary of $39,336, equal to the median personal income of the American worker.
Paul has been an ideologically consistent voice for a constitutionally limited federal government, states' rights and personal liberty for 30 years. Join me in caucusing for Paul on Tuesday.
