Letter: Ward voting deserves a yes vote

This is why I feel a yes on ward votes in Marion:
1. Cost factor to campaign. By keeping this within the ward one could go door-to-door and meet and greet, listening to the needs of the ward residents.
2. There are different needs within the different wards.
3. Some wards are dealing with flooding. Roof tops and asphalt are a highway for water runoff. Builders might want to have more land per parcel.
4. I would love to see a new high-quality water plant built instead of a new library. I would love to see a new and better-maintained stormwater system instead of roundabouts.
5. The city council has a Realtor and several business owners who have to refrain from voting on several conflicts of interest, leaving just a few to vote on major dollar votes.
6. Wards all have a different population of voters within the ward. The people within these wards deserve to have their needs addressed and represented.
7. This position is important and has a big impact on yours and my property taxes and needs. It would be nice if you didn't have to have a large bankroll to run.
8. As a senior I worry about my future in Marion.
I ask you to think about the well-being of all Marion residents when you vote.
