Libbie V. O'Brine-Toren, 90, went to heaven on Friday, March 7, 2014, in Tucson, Ariz. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before services Saturday at Brosh Chapel.
Libbie was born March 30, 1923, in Cedar Rapids to Frank and Mary Kulhuvy. Mary later married Oldrich Rigel. On April 4, 1942, Libbie married Malvin O'Brine. They had one son, Kenneth O'Brine, and later moved to Tucson. They were married 47 years.
She was a cancer survivor twice. She had spent the last six months at Copper Canyon Alzheimer's Care Home.
Libbie is survived by her only son, Kenneth (Linda) O'Brine of Tucson; two half brothers, Ernie (Carol) Rigel and Leonard (Joann) Rigel of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Lisa DeGrasse of New Hampshire, Robert (Robin) O'Brine of California and Kim (Pete) Hess of Vermont; two stepgrand-children, Vera (Brice) Nickelsen and David (Shelly) Martin; six great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; as well as many friends and relatives.
