Iowa City Regina (20-4) vs. Cascade (22-2)
What: Class 2A Quarterfinals
When/Where: 10:30 a.m., Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
Scouting Report: This could be a game where the first team to 40 points wins. It's a rematch from late in the regular season, a game Cascade won at Iowa City, 52-47 … Cascade, which placed fourth in 2A last season, will dictate tempo with a 2-3 zone defense that is a hallmark of veteran coach Al Marshall, who won his 800th career game this season. The Cougars didn't allow an opponent to score more than 56 points in a game and gave up just 50-plus points twice. Contrarily, they held four opponents to 28 or less. Center Devin Green leads Cascade offensively with a 16.3 scoring average … Regina is led by senior center Drew Cook (22.6 PPG), though guard Nathan Stenger (15.1 PPG) also has had a very good season. The Regals lost three of their final four regular-season games. This is the school's first state appearance since 2002.

Williamsburg (23-1) vs. Glenwood (12-12)
What: Class 3A Quarterfinals
When/Where: 3:45 p.m., Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
Scouting Report: This is the second state tournament appearance for Williamsburg. The other was in 2003. The Raiders are the top seed in 3A and on a 22-game win streak. Anamosa is the only team to beat them. Glenwood is the Cinderella of the state tournament, beating three opponents in the postseason it lost to twice each in the regular season … Williamsburg has a trio of solid guards in Adam Klein (15.9 PPG), Josh Koeppel (14.1) and Zach Schlabaugh (11.5), the son of head coach Dave Schlabaugh … Glenwood is at state for the second time, the first time since 1952. Nine of its losses were by single digits. Six-foot-eight center Jake Lewis is the team's lone double-digit scorer (13.0).
-----------------------
Cedar Rapids Xavier (16-8) vs. Pella (21-2)
What: Class 3A Quarterfinals
When/Where: 8:15 p.m., Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
Scouting Report: Xavier has won eight in a row and enters the state tournament on a serious roll. This is the Saints' first trip to Des Moines since 2006. Pella has won 19 straight, meanwhile. The Dutch last appeared at state in 2010, finishing third in 3A … Xavier features a sweet-shooting wing in Adam McDermott, a University of North Dakota signee who averages 17.7 points per game and shoots 46.8 percent from 3-point range. The emergence of junior guard Mitch Burger (13.9 PPG) has spurred Xavier's hot streak late … Pella's leading scorer is senior forward Isaac Naakteboren. He averages 17.2 points. These teams met in the 3A state football semifinals this past fall, with Pella winning en route to a state title.
