Roy Lee Reese was born May 26, 1945, in Iowa City, the son of Carl and Marjorie (Fountain) Reese. Growing up, he attended Iowa City schools and graduated from City High School with the Class of 1963. While at City High, he wrestled for the school. He married Mary Zabloudil on July 3, 1965, and to this marriage three sons were born, Roy Frank, William and Jefferson. Roy was employed as a process engineer at the former Sheller Globe for many years.
He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, an active member of the Classy Chassy Cruisers Car Club and a member of the Precision Performance Pit Crew that won many honors over the years. Roy simply enjoyed life, his dogs and racing cars, whether drag racing, stock car racing or showing off his very yellow hot rod! He not only was a strong supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes, but loved his Chicago Cubs, too! Many might not know that one of his quirks was he enjoyed collecting cookie jars.
His family includes his wife, Mary; three sons, Roy Frank, William and Jefferson (Carole Perdue); his mother, Marjorie Reese; brother, Robert "Bob" Reese (Cathy); three grandchildren, Jesse Reese (China), Cassie Koontz (Jason) and Sierra Reese; one great-grandson, Liam Koontz; numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his beloved two dogs, Tator and Spicy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl; and dog, Sparky.
