Jean Ann Konchalski, born April 28, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away May 16, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family.
She will be missed by her daughter, Ashley; son, Alex; grandson, Demetri; dog, Katie; partner, Tim Wise; brothers, Bob (Pam), Tom (Dana) and Terry (Kristin); sisters, Rhonda Fowler and Sandy Elliott; nieces, Kelly, Kristina, Clarissa, Brittany, Mia, Jennifer and Delaney; nephews, Eric, James R., Jason and James F.; in addition to numerous other family who always knew what a treasure it was to have Jean in their lives.
Jean left Des Moines after high school graduation to serve her country and did so during numerous deployments throughout the world. She retired after 20 proud years as a staff sergeant having earned a variety of recognitions and awards for her leadership and service. Her second career carried on her commitment to service and those who served their county at the VA Health Care System in Iowa City.
A Cele-bration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Jean will be laid to rest with her parents, John Jr. and Shirley (Cummins); and her twin brother, John, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines following a graveside military service at a later date.
The family would like everyone to wear their favorite sports attire to the service.
