Parks, David Eugene
David Eugene Parks, of 104 Elizabeth St. SW, Cedar Rapids, a former resident of Dublin, Calif., died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Nov. 24, after a long hard battle with congestive heart failure. He was 67 years old. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
David was employed for over 32 years in the cable television business. He retired as a construction supervisor at Comcast in 1995 and moved with his wife, Ann, to Cedar Rapids.
Family and friends describe David as a big man with a big heart. He was especially adept at “fixing things” and could repair anything placed in front of him. He was a quiet man with a great sense of humor who enjoyed fishing and working with his hands. Wise and devoted to his family and co-workers, he was often called upon when someone needed advice and guidance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Parks and Ann Houts.
David is survived by his wife, Cordelia “Ann”; his daughters, Kimberly and Debra; his sons, John and Walt; and six grandchildren, varying in ages from 10 to 21, all of whom will miss him greatly.
There will be a private memorial at a later date in Lake Tahoe, Calif.
The family wishes to thank St. Luke's Hospice, Cedar Rapids, for all its care and compassion.
Contributions should be sent to St. Luke's Hospice.
