Brandon, Berta Irene

Berta Irene Brandon, 82, of Marion, slipped away Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Buss) Bixby of Marion, Rick (Darla) Brandon of Victor, Susan (Mike) Diedrick of Marion, David Brandon of Marion and Lori Wolfe of Marion; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Pinky Wahe, Jean Kluesner and Ray Denbow.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clair; a brother, Clifford Denbow; two sisters, Donna Denbow and Elma Patton; a grandson, Mark Diedrick; and a great-granddaughter, Willow Dawn Wise.

Berta was born Feb. 13, 1929, the daughter of Paul and Fern (Payne) Denbow, in South Dakota. She married Clair Richard Brandon on Oct. 3, 1946, in Marshalltown. He passed away Aug. 9, 1981.
