Clapp, Mildred L.
Mildred L. Clapp, 93, of Clinton, formerly of Toronto and Oxford Junction, died Saturday morning, June 15, 2013, at Bickford Cottage in Clinton. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, where friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. service time Wednesday. Burial will be in the Lost Nation Cemetery.
Mildred was born March 22, 1920 daughter of George and Beulah (Chapman) Leslie. She attended and graduated from the Oxford Junction High School and married William “Bill” Clapp on Feb. 14, 1950, in Oxford Junction. He died in April 1994. She and her husband had farmed in the Toronto area.
She loved her church, Assembly of God, and its activities. Mildred liked to sew, crochet, cook, but most of all spend time with her family and travel when she could.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Mae (Kent) McVicker of Sherrill, Iowa; three grandchildren, Abagail and Adam McVicker of Cedar Rapids and Aaron McVicker of Grinnell; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie (Chuck) Brotherton of Cannonsburg, Pa., and Gertrude (Wayne) Zaruba of Maquoketa; a brother, George (Eleanor) Leslie of Clinton; and a sister-in-law, Jane Leslie of Texas.
Preceding her in death were her husband; a son, Gary in 1974; three brothers; a sister and her parents.
