Montgomery, Edson 'Ed' Wayne
Edson “Ed” Wayne Montgomery, 84, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Louann, Ark., passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at First United Methodist Church of Smackover, Ark., with the Rev. Leon Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Smackover Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado, Ark.
Born July 22, 1925, in Clinton, Iowa, to Edson Montgomery and Beulah Mae Tompkins Montgomery, he was a retired electronics engineer for Ampex-CA. Edson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Smackover, Ark.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two wives, Carol Montgomery and Pauline L. Montgomery.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Wayne Montgomery and wife Nancy of Marion and Kurt Montgomery and wife Jacque of Oakley, Calif.; two daughters, Kathryn Bollinger and husband Ernie of San Jose, Calif., and Kristie Norgol and husband Walter of Sacramento, Calif.; stepdaughter, Bobbie Jones of Louann, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
