Lewis, William I.
William I. Lewis, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Jan. 31, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Bill was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Alden, Iowa, to Edward and Beulah Lewis. He moved to Missouri with his family in 1938. It was there that Bill married Betty Hundley on Dec. 15, 1956, in Sullivan County. To this union three children were born: Jackie Sue Flowers, Jennifer Lynn Cimaglia and William Dean Lewis. Bill also has 10 grandchildren.
In 1959, the family settled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bill worked for the Square D Co. for 42 years, 4 months, and 22 days. He retired on March 22, 2002.
Bill was a member of Hope United Church in Hiawatha. He was a shy man but loved life and family to the utmost.
He will be missed by all of his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Beulah Lewis; brothers, Edward Lewis, Frank Lewis and Jim Lewis; sister, Mary Johnson; brothers-in-law, Charles Hundley and Dean Hundley.
Bill has one living brother, Richard Lewis; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lewis; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Johnson.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date.
