Neuhaus, Marilyn
Marilyn Neuhaus, 80, of Victor, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, with her family by her side at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church, near Victor. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery, near Victor. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor beginning at 1 p.m. Monday and the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be directed to Marilyn Neuhaus Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 485, Victor, IA 52347.
Marilyn was born on May 24, 1932, near Victor, to Otto and Edith Koehn Neuhaus. She was home schooled and made her home in the Victor area all of her life.
She was a Wednesday schoolteacher at St. John's Lutheran Church for 13 years and also taught piano lessons for over 30 years. Marilyn enjoyed playing card games and was a regular player of Skipbo later in her life. She also enjoyed hand crafts, selling greeting cards and hosting an annual winter party where she sold her greeting cards. She enjoyed her daily visits to the Senior Center in Victor, where she enjoyed socializing with her friends and playing bingo and dominoes.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Gloria Neuhaus of Victor; three nieces, Margaret Crockett of Guernsey, Marna (Barry) Mohr of Ladora and Marcella (Mark) Chvala of Victor; one nephew, Mark (Kim) Neuhaus of Cedar Rapids; and 11 great-nieces and nephews; 33 great-great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Erna Neuhaus; and one brother, Milferd Neuhaus.
