Farrell, Michael R.
Michael R. Farrell, 60, of Swisher, died at home on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, following a short illness. A private family gathering was held. Arrangements are by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his mother, Nancy Farrell of Lombard, Ill.; his wife, Darlene Farrell of Swisher; children, Rachel Farrell of North Liberty, Joshua (Angel) Farrell of St. Charles, Mo., and Nicholas (Kristy) Farrell of Shellsburg; sister, Karen Fine-Freeman of Lombard, Ill.; two brothers, Gregory (Lara) Farrell of Fullerton, Calif., and Matthew (Gina) Farrell of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; and stepchildren, Crissy (Tracey) Jarmon of Marion and Michael (Annie) Prohaska of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ashley Vasquez, Nicholas Parsons, Lexis Melsha, Phoenix Farrell, Everest Farrell, Wesley Farrell, Broden Farrell and Henry Farrell; two great-grandchildren, Macey and Madaxx; 14 stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Russell (Shannon) Haun of Rockton, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Marlene (Ray) Bussey of Roscoe, Ill., and Lois (Steve) Snyder of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was born Sept. 13, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Omer John “Jack” and Nancy (English) Farrell. He married Darlene Haun Prohaska on Nov. 22, 1989. Mike owned and operated United Advertising Service for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father; his faithful dog, Buddy; and many good friends.
