Iowa adds 445 virus cases on Tuesday
Zero deaths reported for third day in a row
Iowa reported 445 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.
The new cases bring the state total to 357,484, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
The state’s seven-day average for new cases is 512.
VACCINATIONS
As of Tuesday afternoon, 766,656 Iowans are fully vaccinated. The number is equal to 30.55 percent of Iowa’s adult population (16 and older).
Overall, 798,577 people have been fully vaccinated in Iowa, including non-Iowans.
The number of doses administered in Iowa is now 1,907,934.
In Linn County, the number of doses administered totals 140,815, with 57, 311 people fully vaccinated. That is 31 percent of the county’s 16 and older population.
In Johnson County, the total number of doses administered is 111,068, with 44,578 people fully vaccinated. That is 35.86 percent of the county’s adult population.
NEW CASES
Linn County added 13 new cases, bringing the county’s number of cases since March 2020 to 20,177. The county’s seven-day average of new cases is 26.
Johnson County added 26 new cases for a total of 13,897. Johnson’s seven-day average is 28.
Of new cases statewide, 88 were children up to age 17, bringing the total of infected minors to 41,555.
CONFIRMED DEATHS
Iowa reported zero new, confirmed deaths Tuesday for the third day in a row.
The three consecutive days without a new death bring Iowa’s seven-day average for deaths to three.
HOSPITALIZATIONS
Across the state, virus hospitalizations remained at 220 in the 24-hour period ending at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Patients in intensive care increased from 55 to 56 and the number of patients on ventilators dropped from 21 to 20.
LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES
The number of long-term care facilities in the state experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks — three or more cases among residents and staff — remained at three. The number of individuals positive in those facilities was 30 as of Tuesday afternoon.
To date, 2,295 people have died from the virus in Iowa’s care facilities since March 2020.
