Kintzle, Clara T.
Clara T. Kintzle, 97, of Manchester, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Mass of Resurrection: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, with the Rev. John Flaherty as celebrant. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment: St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery, Edgewood.
She was born Oct. 15, 1914, in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of William and Theresa (Derga) Schaffer. She attended St. Paul's Catholic School in Worthington. Clara then worked as a hired hand in the area. Clara was united in marriage to Milton Kintzle on Feb. 22, 1938, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington. Five children were born to this union. Together they farmed near Fillmore until 1946 when they purchased a farm near Greeley. Milton died in a farm accident in 1950. Clara and the children remained on the farm. In 1962, Clara moved to Manchester. She made her home at the Meadows in 2002 and in 2007, entered the Good Neighbor Home.
Clara had a strong faith and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Clara will be remembered as one who enjoyed music and participating with the Schaffer Family Band, bird watching, baking, and loved her family.
Survivors include her five children, William (Lynda) Kintzle of Waterloo, Joe (Judi) Kintzle of Strawberry Point, Tom (Verna) Kintzle of Greeley, Frank (Geri) Kintzle of Cedar Rapids and Marge (Bill) Billings of Delhi; 24 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Schaffer of Guttenberg.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton; two brothers, Lawrence and Leo Schaffer; and five sisters, Aurelia Roling, Margaret Roling, Mary Freking, Sister Mary Leonard Schaffer and Mildred Gosen.
