Patricia "Pat" Barker, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pat was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Theodore and Doris (Markham) Carter. Pat graduated from Franklin High School in 1954. After graduation, Pat attended Paris Academy Beauty School and worked at the Powder Puff beauty salon and others in the Cedar Rapids area. Pursuing her love of interior design, Pat worked at Klinger Paint Co. for 34 years, retiring in 2009.
Pat married Don McConaughy and they shared many memories together until his passing in 1975. She then married Gerald E. Barker and they shared many memories together until his passing in 2004.
Left to cherish Pat's memories are her son, Michael (MaryLynn) McConaughy; her step-children, Steve (Billie) Barker, Christa (Mike) Carson, Liz (Ben) VanEtten and John (Jamie) Barker; her grandchildren, Kaleb, Tiernen, Scott, Stacy, Jesse, Ian, Collin, Eliot, Matthew, Lauren, Christa, Joseph, Taylor, Ty and Tatum; 10 great- grandchildren; sisters, Sherrill (Bob) Turkal and Karen (Jim) Zacek; and many nieces and nephews.
