Iowa Corn Indy 250 remains on time

The IZOD IndyCar Series Iowa Corn Indy 250 is set to start on time despite some earlier rain. The race is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (Iowa time) and will be televised on KCRG-TV9.

Team Penske will look to grab its first victory at Iowa Speedway in Newton with Will Power on the pole. Helio Castroneves originally won the pole (he still gets credit and points for it) but took a 10-spot grid penalty for having a new engine replacing the one that ran in qualifying. Castroneves, the series points leader, will start 11th.

James Hinchcliffe, of Andretti Autosport, starts on the front row, looking for his third win of the season. He had wins at St. Petersburg, Fla., and Sao Paulo, Brazil, earlier this season and is ninth in points.

Marco Andretti, the 2011 event winner, and Ed Carpenter start third and fourth, respectively. Indianapolis 500 winner and 2010 Iowa Corn Indy 250 champion Tony Kanaan starts fifth with Graham Rahal next to him in the third row.
