Newell, Robert Jr.
Robert Newell Jr., 51, of Alton Woods Dr., Concord, N.H., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly in his home on Friday, May 7, 2010.
He was born in Glens Falls, N.Y., March 27, 1959, the son of Nanette (LaCarte) Newell and Robert Newell Sr., both of Hudson Falls. He received an Associate degree in Music from Adirondack Community College and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Iowa. He graduated from CUNA Management School in Madison, Wis. in 1992.
During his career, he worked as loan officer at Collins Community Credit Union and loan officer and manager at Cherry Burrell Credit Union in Cedar Rapids, and manager at Dexter Federal Regional Credit Union in Dexter, Maine. He worked as manager in Logistics and Mail Services at the New Hampshire Department of Health & Human Services from 1998 to 2008.
He was an accomplished classical and rock pianist and played keyboards with the Kelly-Michaels Band (NY), The Toys Band (Cedar Rapids) and The Jonathan Newell Band (NY). Rob enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, biking, downhill skiing and being near the ocean. He was an avid reader, and he enjoyed learning anything new. He loved watching movies, was a history buff and a fantastic gourmet cook.
He is survived by his parents, Nanette (LaCarte) Newell and Robert Newell Sr. and his wife Regina of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; his daughter, Kaitrin Newell of Concord; his former wife yet best friend, Linda (Pierson) Newell of Concord; two brothers, Paul Newell and his wife, Elsa of South Glens Falls, N.Y., and Jonathan Newell and his wife, Jennifer of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Brett Newell; and his grandparents, Joseph and Rosanna (Mayotte) LaCarte and Grace (Ryan) Newell.
Calling hours will be held at The Carleton Funeral home in Hudson Falls, N.Y., from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. A funeral mass will be offered at The Church of St. Mary's/St. Paul's in Hudson Falls at 11 a.m. Saturday.
