Thomas Michael Boyle, 77, of Bennett, entered eternity on Saturday, May 30, 2015, while being cared for by University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City due to complications from a fall. Funeral Mass will be 11
a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, with Father Richard Okumo officiating. Burial will follow in Inland Cemetery, Bennett. A time for food and fellowship will be held in the Bennett Legion Hall immediately following the burial. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton.

Tom, the son of Neil J. and Catherine Collins Boyle, was born Nov. 18, 1937, in Chicago. Tom graduated from Bennett High School in 1955 and received his B.A. degree in history from the University of Iowa in 1998. He worked as a machinist for the Rock Island Arsenal and for private industry as well. Tom's life passion was aviation and the space program. As an aerospace reporter for the Tipton Conservative, Tom attended all the manned space launches at Cape Canaveral for 22 years beginning in 1969.
Tom is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Jim Field of Rocklin, Calif.; his brother, Tim Boyle of Cedar Rapids; his brother-in-law, Jim Macy of Akron, Ohio; two nieces and five nephews. Tom also is survived by his stepmother, Norene Boyle of Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Nancy Boyle Macy and Peggy Boyle Whitworth.
Memorials may be sent to the Bennett Ambulance Service, Bennett American Legion, Tipton VFW or Tipton Public Library.
