Byers, Joni Lynn
Joni Lynn Byers, 54, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, in her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at First Church of the Open Bible, 1911 E. Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Veenstra presiding.
Survivors include four children, Michelle, Ricky and Amy Miller and Jay Larimer; her parents, Bill and Kitty Johnson, all of Cedar Rapids; her birth mother, Adrienne Otto of Corning, Calif.; two brothers, Bill Jr. of Wilsonville, Ore., and Jeff Cron of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Robyn (Dave) of Forest Ranch, Calif., Julie (Joey) of Frederick, Colo., and Pam Johnson of Richland.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Rashyad, Raffee, Randy, MaiSarah, Sage, Chelsea, Johnathan, Megan and DaCoda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joni also had a companion, Jerry Hakes; and a lifelong dear friend, Rickey Miller, both of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Johnson.
Joni was born in Cedar Rapids June 10, 1956 and lived there most of her life.
She attended Ellis Community Church, had a great love for animals and her family. She will be greatly missed and remember by all. May she rest in peace.
