Ranshaw, Joanna M.
Joanna M. Ranshaw, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Cottage Grove Place. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin.
Surviving are her husband, Bill; her children, Barbara Phares of St. Peters, Mo., Craig Ranshaw and wife Patricia of Haddon Township, N.J., and Steve Ranshaw and wife Jean of Waxham, N.C.; her grandchildren, Brianna, Katie, Kyle, John, Tyler, Matthew and Sarah; and her siblings, Lila Flansberg and Sherman Files, both of Tiffin, and Lucy Rohret of Cosgrove.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leander and Eva Files; and a brother, Douglas Files.
Joanna was born on Oct. 3, 1931, in Columbus City, Iowa. After graduation, she worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and also taught preschool when her children were in school. She was very active over the years at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Girl Scouts, Meth-Wick Auxiliary and PTA when her children were young.
Memorial donations in Joanna's honor may be made to Hospice of Mercy.
