Johnson, Ronald A.
Ronald A. Johnson, 75, of Oxford, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City, where visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Ron was born Sept. 8, 1936, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Marie (Vrchoticky) Johnson. He was a 1954 graduate of Cosgrove High School and later went on to be a lifelong farmer. On April 18, 1959, Ron married Priscilla Purvis in Iowa City.
Ron was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper and greatly enjoyed these activities. He also painted houses and was very proud of the number in which he completed. Most importantly, Ron loved his family and spending time with them. He will truly be missed!
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla of Oxford; son, Randy (Wanda) Johnson of Oxford; daughter, Tami Jackson (Chuck Harvey) of Kalona; grandchildren, Cheryl Bautista, Jennifer Johnson, Hailey Jackson, Shelby Jackson, Shawn Harvey and Julie Harvey; one great-granddaughter, Liliana Bautista; and a brother-in-law, Paul Noah of Iowa City.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delores Noah.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Ronald Johnson Memorial Fund.
