Donohue, Eleanor T.
Eleanor T. Donohue, 92, of Coralville, formerly of Cosgrove, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City, with a rosary beginning at 4 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Eleanor was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Cosgrove, the daughter of Edward and Mary Ellen (Murphy) McCabe. She graduated from Cosgrove High School and Iowa City Commercial College. She worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as an administrative assistant, retiring in 1965.
Eleanor married Ralph J. Donohue on April 3, 1945, at St. Peter's Church in Cosgrove. Family and farming were very important to her all her life. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother to all and will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Patrick's Altar & Rosary. In addition, Eleanor was a 4-H leader for many years.
Survivors include her children, Steve Donohue (Lisa) of Birmingham, Ala., Mary Ellen Rogers (Larry) of Iowa City, Dick Donohue (Barb) of Cedar Rapids, Chris Muller (Jack) of Rapid City, S.D., and Kathy Hanson (Garry) of Iowa City; grandchildren, Ben, Hope, Anna, Angie, Jason, Danny, Chris, Dustin, Josh, Allyson, Geoff, Jake, Nicole and Tara; great-grandchildren, Zach, Paige, Chloe, Olivia, Abby, Kellan, Ashley, Allysa, Ayla Rose, Blake, Brady, Allie, Jacob, Ella, Madelyn, Ella, Keelin, Michael, Megan and Madison; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Donohue of Iowa City; and a brother, Larry McCabe (Janet) of Coralville.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1993; three sisters and five brothers.
