Miller, Rosemary C.
Rosemary C. Miller, 89, of Solon Retirement Village, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at her home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.
She was born March 22, 1922, on a farm near Cosgrove, to William and Mary (Conney) O'Brien. She graduated from Cosgrove High School in 1940. Rosemary worked two years at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and also at Ernest Horn Elementary School for 10 years where she served children their lunches. She enjoyed being with the young children at Horn.
Rosemary was also a member of St. Peter's Church in Cosgrove for 30 years.
She married Robert Miller on Nov. 25, 1942, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. They lived on a farm for 30 years near Cosgrove where she raised her family. Upon retirement and moving to Iowa City, she enjoyed playing cards, she also belonged to several bridge groups and played euchre with friends and neighbors.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; three sons, John (Betty) of Riverside, Ron (Peggy) of Iowa City and Jim (MJ) of Iowa City; a sister, Eileen Schneider of Riverside; a sister-in-law, Julia Miltner of Coralville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eugene, John and Ed; and a sister, Kathleen.
