Wanita M. LaCombe, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died
peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Meth-Wick Community. Services at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, at St. Paul's United Meth-odist Church. The Rev.
Harlan Gillespie and the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Private family entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the

Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph; a daughter, Laura LaCombe of Cedar Rapids; and a son, Lee (Kim) of Urbana.
She also is survived by a granddaughter, Abby (Gabe Barnett) LaCombe of Minneapolis, Minn., brother-in-law, Max Fitz of Cedar Rapids; a nephew; and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda.
Wanita was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Arlington, the daughter of Roy and Bertha Brandenburg Ward, and graduated from Arlington High School in 1946. She married Ralph W. LaCombe on Sept. 17, 1950, in Cedar Rapids. Wanita worked as a secretary in the family business, LaCombe/Kucera Advertising for several years.
She was a Coe College graduate and a member of its Alumni and Heritage Associations and was the recipient of its 2010 Distinguished Service Award. She also was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and the Community Concert Association. Wanita was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she was active in several church organizations. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of many local bridge clubs. Wanita loved to cook and bake for family and friends. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed knitting, quilting, ceramics and was a very talented painter.
Wanita was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
