Hebl, Kathryn M.

Kathryn M. Hebl, 92, a lifetime resident of Johnson County, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the Brierwood Health Care Center in Iowa City following a short illness. A celebration of life for Kathryn will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Private family graveside services will be held Thursday at the Lone Tree Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Kathryn's name can be made to Essence of Life Hospice or an organization of your choice.

Kathryn M. Aubrecht was born Oct. 30, 1920, the daughter of George and Bessie (Thomas) Aubrecht, one of 11 children. On Nov. 30, 1937, Kathryn was united in marriage to Joseph Hebl in Iowa City. Kathryn was a homemaker, a farm wife and enjoyed her time gardening, cooking and especially time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family includes her son, Paul Hebl and his wife, Diane of Iowa City; grandchildren, Todd Hebl of Coralville, Elisha Hamm (Mike) of Iowa City and Raquel Jones of Wilton; six great-grandchildren, Andy, Brent and Chandler Hamm and Joey, Katie and Rita Jones; and sisters, Beverly (Rashid) Al-Rashid and Marlene Boerjan.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe in 2003; son, Wilfred “Willy” Hebl in 2011; five sisters, Lucille Kucera (Ed), Lillian Allen (Vernon), Letha Musser (Harold), Marjorie Anciaux (Cecil) and Donna Zeithamel; three brothers, Harold Aubrecht (Velma), Maynard Aubrecht (Bonnie) and Merrill “Bub” Aubrecht; and her grandson-in-law, Max Jones.
