Long, Tedd William
Tedd William Long, 33, of 410 31st St. SW and 2506 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., after a courageous lifelong battle with a heart condition. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at LeGrand Friends Church, 206 W. Main St., LeGrand, by Pastor Alan Mullikin. Burial: LeGrand Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.Tedd is survived by his mother, Pam Long and father Tom Long, both of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Todd (Darla) and Timothy (Jeanne), all of Marshalltown, and Michael of Cedar Rapids; his nieces and nephews, Haley, Nicholas, Karly, Trevor and Lana Long, all of Marshalltown; his grandpa, Jack Long of Marshalltown; a special friend, Vicky Brooks of Mount Pleasant; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his devoted dog, Tyson.His grandparents, Hazel Long and Dorothy and Raymond Mairs, preceded Tedd in death.Tedd William Long was born Sept. 2, 1977, in Marshalltown, son of Thomas Long and Pamela Mairs Long. He attended LDF, LeGrand, until the sixth grade, and then Roosevelt Middle School in Cedar Rapids. He graduated in 1996 from Kennedy High School, Cedar Rapids.Tedd loved playing the electric guitar, listening to music, playing poker, watching poker tournaments on television and especially spending time with his family with Tyson always at his side. He also enjoyed watching the stock market, keeping up with current events, traveling to warmer climates and collecting baseball cards.Ted will be remembered for his laughter and his inner-strength that guided him through life challenges, and will be greatly missed by his family.nline condolences may be directed to
