Shaw, Mary Ann
Mary Ann Shaw, 82, of Tama, and a resident of Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama, with Pastor Jack Andrews officiating. Private interment will be held at a future date. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary Ann was born on May 13, 1927, in Coon Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of William and Rose Anne (DuPree) Kupka. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School and attended nursing school. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Carl “Keith” Shaw on Oct. 27, 1958, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. She helped her husband at the Sears Catalog Store in Tama, and was also a homemaker. Mary Ann enjoyed antiques and collecting things from garage sales and auctions, especially pottery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl “Keith” Shaw in 1995; and a sister, Jean Gunnar.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff (Mary Fasse) Shaw of Toledo, and Dave Shaw of Tama; one daughter, Rozanne (Randy) Carnahan of Seaback, Wash.; two grandchildren, Connor Fasse-Shaw and Patrick Carnahan; one brother, William Kupka of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
