Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Vanch (Glime) Miller; one brother in infancy, Horace Miller; and her brother, Herschel Miller.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Eva Miller, and nephew, Rex (Mary) Miller, both of Shellsburg; and grandnieces, Tiffany Miller of Cedar Rapids, Sara Comp of Luzerne and Jill Comp of Keystone.
Jeanette put a great deal of effort into a detailed account of her life and her wish was to share it with everyone.
Jeanette saw first the light of day Nov. 5, 1915, in the home of her parents, Andrew and Vanch (Glime) Miller, on a farm southeast of La Porte City. She attended a one-room country school through eighth grade. In her freshman year of high school she won second place in a spelling contest. Jeanette then entered the county contest held in Vinton and won first place. In her senior year of high school she won first place for shorthand. Jeanette entered the district contest for shorthand and won second place with a score of 97.25; the first place score was 97.5. She graduated from Estherville High School on June 1, 1932. Jeanette was a member of the National Honor Society and was eighth in her class of 68.
Jeanette was employed by the WPA for three years as a steno. She was then employed by an abstract office in Vinton for seven months as a steno. Jeanette lived for several years on the family farm on the north edge of Shellsburg. She was later employed by Collins Radio for 30+ years. Many of those years she worked as a steno and later as a secretary.
Following retirement she traveled to many places in the United States, Mackinac Island, Alaska and Prince Edward Islands, one of the worlds' greatest islands and Canada's smallest Province.
Jeanette enjoyed listening to Christian programs on the radio, working in her flower gardens, reading and baking cookies.
