Linn County I-Club postpones fun day to August
May. 12, 2015 12:22 pm
IOWA CITY - The Linn County I-Club postponed its inaugural family fun day - originally scheduled for this Saturday - until August.
The family fun event replaced the traditional I-Club banquet format. The design was to make it interactive with Iowa players and coaches, chapter president Wes Cooling said Tuesday. Instead of a fee, the event was sponsored by Rockwell Collins and required one non-perishable food item for entry.
This year's date coincided with UI graduation and other Corridor activities previously scheduled for this weekend. By shifting it to August, Cooling said the event - likely on an undetermined Friday night - will serve as a kickoff to the fall sports season.
'We're still going to make it a carnival-esque type of event,” Cooling said.
