JAMES POGGENPOHL
North Liberty
James Francis Poggenpohl, 72, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, July 26, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Rebecca Carver officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial Fund has been established.
James was born Nov. 9, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Charles W. Poggenpohl and Mabel L. (Lewis) Poggenpohl. He was a 1961 graduate of City High School. On Nov. 19, 1966, he married Mary Lu Peterson in Jesup, Iowa. James joined the Army and served during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. He was a member of the Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters for 37 years, before retiring in 2003.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Lu; his two children, Angie Meyer (Jason) of
Aurora, Colo., and Andy
(Holly) Poggenpohl, of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Jesicah Pringle, Grayson Poggenpohl and James, Matthew and Natalie
Meyer; one brother, Harold Poggenpohl; two sisters, Alice (Herbert) Doud
and Barbara McKercher; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles L. Poggenpohl.
