James, Larry Dale
Gone but not forgotten
Larry Dale James, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, left this world peacefully in his sleep this week. Celebration of Life: 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Moose Lodge.
Larry left behind a wonderful family including his son, Brian Dale James of Cedar Rapids and his grandchildren, Austin Dale James of Marion and Bailey McKenzie James of Corydon, who were his pride and joy.
He also leaves behind his mother, Laura Maxine Atwood of Newton; sisters, Barbara (Robert) Engle of Cedar Rapids and Sharon (Paul) Masters of Newton; one brother, Curt (Vicki) James of Newton; three nieces, Pamela Hansen of Cedar Rapids, Brenda Lacher of Marion and Megan James of Newton; two nephews, Kevin Roberts of Central City and Jefferson James of Newton; and a very special friend, Barbara Stanley.
His laughter and sense of humor will be missed at family gatherings.
Larry will be welcomed with open arms up in Heaven by many family members including his father, Homer Dale James; stepfather, John Atwood; many grandparents; and a special nephew, Clint Allan Roberts.
Born Aug. 17, 1942, Larry was the son of Homer Dale and Laura Maxine James. Larry was raised in Jasper County and later moved to Linn County and worked for the city of Cedar Rapids until his retirement. He served in the United States Army.
Larry's favorite pastimes were bowling and golfing.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
