Jerry C. Johnson, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was called for his final ride to

join the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2018.

Jerry was a beloved cowboy whose greatest joys included visiting with friends and family on his back porch and working with and gathering wood for his fireplace. He loved to travel and spend time with his grandkids.

In younger years, Jerry spent many days on the lake fishing for his prized catch, hunting and, back in his ranch days, tending to his horses. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will carry on through his family and friends as they continue the traditions he set forth.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Carl Johnson; and his eldest son, Michael Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Johnson of Cedar Rapids; mother, Ruth Johnson of Cedar Rapids; sister, Bonnie Whitehead of Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Calvin Johnson and wife, Chris, of Phoenixville, Penn.; daughter, Brenda Calbow of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Chelsea Compton and husband, Trent, Alexis Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Kasey Calbow and wife, Kelsey, and Jordan Calbow; niece and nephews; cousins; and many great friends.

There was a private burial at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids and there will be a Celebration of Life, Sunday, July 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Touch of Class, 5977 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
