UPDATE: An Iowa City man was arrested early this morning in Solon after deputies found him naked and claiming to have been forced to handle a nuclear bomb, according to a criminal complaint.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office was called to 400 Summit Dr. in Solon about 3:30 a.m. on a report of a naked man who was "excited" and had blood shot and watery eyes, according to the complaint.
According to the report, William Todd Bliss, 41, told deputies that four men forced him to handle a nuclear bomb at his home in Iowa City. When deputies tried to detain Bliss, he reportedly took off running and had to be physical detained, causing bodily injury to a deputy.
Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek said Monday morning that the deputy's injury was minor, but will require follow-up with occupational health.
Bliss admitted to drinking at the Solon Station earlier in the night, according to the complaint. He said he had at least nine beers and some vodka throughout the day, the complaint states.
Bliss told deputies he has a drinking problem, and his blood alcohol content tested at .111, according to the report.
“No nuclear bomb was located,” according to the report.
Bliss, who faces charges of interference with official acts causing bodily injury and public intoxication, does not have a criminal history in Iowa, according to court records.
He was released from the Johnson County Jail Monday morning.
