Wieneke, Wayne A.
Wayne A. Wieneke, 61, of Dyersville, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Dyersville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate. The Rev. Phil Kruse will be the homilist and concelebrate with the Rev. Mark Osterhaus.
Wayne was born March 29, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Richard “Dick” and Grace (Burger) Wieneke. He married Margie Loesche on June 2, 1973, in Petersburg, Iowa.
Wayne co-owned and operated Wieneke's FS Mart in Dyersville for 33 years until retiring in 2006. Wayne served on the Dyersville Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post 137, Knights of Columbus Council 1734, the Dyersville Golf and Country Club, and served on the St. Francis Xavier Parish Finance Committee.
Survivors include his wife, Margie; daughter, Carrie (Joshua Broghammer) Wieneke of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren, Jack, Max and Quinn; his mother, Grace Wieneke of Dyersville; siblings, Dan (Susan) Wieneke of Kingston, N.Y., Jeff (Julie) Wieneke and Amy (James) Sheehy, both of Dyersville, and Lori (Bruce) Maahs of Epworth: father- and mother-in-law, Sylvester “Red” and Alma Loesche of Dyersville; in-laws, Dennis (Jean) Loesche, Russ (Freida) Loesche, Randy Loesche and Connie (Leon) Schuster, all of Petersburg, and Bonnie (Gary) Bass of Bedford, Texas; and many nieces and nephews, Sarah (Mark) Knysh, Kristin (Jimmy) Malatino, Michael and Danielle Wieneke, Jenny, Molly, Emily and Tim Wieneke, Brittany and Blake Burkle and Erin Sheehy, Megan, McKenzie and Madison Maahs, Jayme Loesche, Benji, Bobby and Brittany Loesche, Billi (Dave) Mottet, Cory Schuster, Amber (Jeff) Lehmann, Ashley (Jeremiah) Chapmann, and Amanda Bass.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dick in 1989; and sister-in-law, Deb (Delaney) Loesche in 1975.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Dubuque, St. Francis Xavier Parish and the Haiti Fund.
