Let me provide a different focus to The Gazette article about the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics being among the nation's elite hospitals ('UI Hospitals among nation's ‘elite',” July 18).
The article is accurate. However, note that another of the nation's elite hospitals is in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids Corridor. Backing up the Corridor in Cedar Rapids, according to the article, is UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital - ranked No. 3 in state, having high performing marks in five specialties - gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, orthopedics, pulmonary and urology. So, we have top medical care in the Corridor.
The article is based on the annual U.S. News and World Report survey.
This year, our Corridor care was further bolstered by the consultation partnership between St. Luke's and Mayo Clinic. This brings Mayo into the Corridor. Mayo is the top performing hospital in the nation, ranking No. 1 or No. 2 in every specialty surveyed.
World-class medical care in the Corridor.
