Tom Hobson, who has represented Rockwell Collins in state and local government relations for more than two decades, is retiring this month.
Hobson, who joined the Cedar Rapids avionics and communications provider in 1991, is principal manager of government and public affairs. He cited health issues for his decision to retire.
Hobson, 69, is serving a second term on the Cedar Rapids Airport Commission. He also is a member of the board of directors of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance and the Iowa City Area Economic Development Group.
Hobson has served on industry task forces under three governors, including the Iowa Innovation Council. He is the deputy for Rockwell Collins CEO Kelly Ortberg on the Iowa Business Council and chairman of the Iowa Taxpayers Association.
Hobson is the incoming chairman of the Corporate Associate Partners at the National Lieutenant Governors Association and a member of the Aerospace States Association and the National Council for Advanced Manufacturing.
Rockwell Collins spokeswoman Pam Tvrdy-Cleary said the company plans to name a successor to Hobson as principal manager of government and public affairs.
