ROSELLA "ROSIE" KARP

Rosella "Rosie" Karp, 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at the Lutheran Home, Muscatine, Iowa. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Steve Garner. Visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Rosie was born at home on Aug. 15, 1927, near Hastings, Neb., the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Steichen) Karp. She moved to Cedar Rapids in 1944, and was employed by Iowa National Mutual Insurance Co. for 40 years in a secretarial and accounting position. Rosie was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and belonged to and did volunteer work through St. Bernadette Circle and Senior Citizens Group.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph; two sisters and their husbands, Marge and Leroy Burk of Muscatine, and Marie and Clarence Eltz of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and a niece, Barb Gross (daughter of Marge and Leroy) of Fruitland, Iowa.
Survivors are special nieces, Julie Phelps and Kathy Burk of Muscatine, Pat Eltz of Florida and Jan Piepenbrink; and nephew, Ben Eltz of Illinois.
