Sharp, Alice I.
Alice I. Sharp, 92, of Iowa City, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. until services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Iowa City Hospice, First Presbyterian Church or Briarwood Health Care Center.

Alice Irene Griffith was born Oct. 28, 1920, in rural Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert M. and Florence L. (Deuel) Griffith. Her family moved to the Sharon Center area where she attended schools graduating from Sharon Center High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Sylvester “Bud” Sharp on Oct. 28, 1938, in Washington, Iowa. For a number of years, Alice worked for Kelly Cleaners in Iowa City before her employment with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics began in 1965, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, a member of the Eagles Lodge and an avid bowler who bowled on many leagues over the years.
Her family includes her children, Shirley Green (John), Mary Saylor, Carol Larson and Donald Sharp (Nancy Husted) all of Iowa City; seven grandchildren, Shawn Sharp, Mishelle Eckland, Brian Saylor, Amanda Green-Northam, Tina Wayne, Randy Husted and Jackie Husted Marquardt; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; an infant son, Sylvester Sharp Jr.; and her brother, Loren Griffith.
