Irene L. Earsa, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Hala Cemetery, rural Amana. Visitation will be from 4:30 until 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Irene was born April 2, 1926, in Shueyville, the daughter of Edward and Ada (See) Turecek. She married William C. Earsa on May 30, 1943, in Wionna, Miss. Irene and William farmed for many years in the Swisher/ Fairfax area. She enjoyed going to dances, traveling, gardening, cooking family meals, and keeping the farm and yard perfect.
Her faith was very important to her and she was a devoted member of St. Ludmila's Catholic Church.
Irene is survived by her sons, Daniel (Pennie) Earsa of Pocahontas, Ark., and Mark Earsa of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Selina Earsa, Tracy (Jason) Hosier, Tammy (Greg) Lundry and Bart Earsa; five great-grandchildren, Jerod, Cassie, Olivia, Alaina and Max; and her sister, Alma Lana of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Earsa; a son, William Edward Earsa; a grandson, Bo Mark Earsa; and two sisters, Mary Witousek and Rose Skalsky.
A memorial fund has been established.
